Names alone do not establish a Live Photo
An image and video with a similar name may be a real motion-photo pair, two unrelated files or an export naming collision. The checker does not promote a shared basename to a verified relationship. Without relationship evidence, Live Photo pairing is unknown.
If a trusted catalog export or your own reviewed inventory identifies a pair, use an optional source manifest. Each member needs the same pairId and one of the roles live-photo-image or live-photo-video. A group with extra members, missing roles or conflicting source hashes is flagged for review.
Use the small manifest format
The JSON object needs format set to kitforma-photo-manifest-v1 and a files array. Each file entry needs path relative to the selected source root. Optional fields are sha256, pairId, role and albums. The downloaded source manifest already provides paths and hashes; add relationship declarations only when you have supporting evidence.
For example, two entries might use paths Trip/IMG_1024.HEIC and Trip/IMG_1024.MOV, pairId asset-1024, and the respective live-photo-image and live-photo-video roles. That identifier is your declaration; this browser tool does not extract or validate the embedded Apple identifier.
Interpret component coverage narrowly
Both declared components present means the image and video bytes each have an identical destination match. It does not mean that the destination app associates or plays them together. Test the pair in the destination app and check its supported import workflow.
A source manifest hash mismatch means the selected source bytes changed after the manifest was created, or the wrong source was selected. An entry absent from the source selection is a selection gap. Neither can be quietly counted as migration loss.
Duplicates do not prove album preservation
Two source paths with equal size and SHA-256 hold identical byte content. A destination may consolidate them into one copy. The checker reports fewer copies instead of claiming the pixels are gone, while leaving the folder and album requirements for review.
The manifest can record source album names, but this version has no destination catalog reader. Album membership, face assignments, favorites and non-destructive edit histories remain unverified even when all original file bytes are present.
